Traits of a Northwestern Husky

At Northwestern, we believe that developing strong character is just as important as academic achievement. Our Traits of a Husky define who we are as a school community and guide how we learn, grow, and interact with others.

Possessing a Growth Mindset

Huskies are driven to excellence in all their endeavors. They are critical thinkers and creative problem solvers, ready to tackle challenges with confidence. Huskies are independent learners who embrace the opportunity to fail forward, understanding that mistakes are a part of growth. Through perseverance and resilience, they keep pushing forward—even in difficult times.

Demonstrate Social, Emotional, and Cultural Awareness

Huskies understand the importance of building strong relationships. They know how to self-regulate their emotions and value connections with others in the school community. Huskies are empathetic and patient, taking time to understand and support those around them.

Respectful and Personally Responsible

Huskies lead with respect—for themselves, their peers, and all individuals. They take responsibility for their actions and behaviors, remaining accountable to both themselves and the school community.

Community and Service-Minded

Huskies actively seek to contribute to their community and are service-minded, striving to make a positive impact. They are real-world ready, prepared to think critically and act independently with self-awareness. Huskies are strong communicators and work together to achieve common goals.

Together, these traits shape Huskies into well-rounded students who are prepared for success in school, in life, and in their future communities.
